Dear Mr. Vida

Our Cologne agency alerted us this morning to what appears to be a "mailout" of yours, regarding this tuesday at something called WENDEL. In it, there is mention of Donald P. Mastersons book, "To Spot a LimeKrahkin", which is pubished by us.

We were surprised to see that you describe "To Spot a LimeKrahkin" as "your" book, and furthermore that it will be "available at bookstores everywhere THIS TUESDAY".

For your information, "To Spot a LimeKrahkin" by Donald P. Masterson (i.e. NOT "you") was published by Mendehlsson and Pardner Publishers AG last fall, to great critical acclaim. It has since appeared in French, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Greek and Japanese translations. It has sold more than 700, 000 copies in those and other countries, and was shorlisted for the Aucker Island Man Prize 2006.

We strongly advice you to seek legal advice at your eariest convenience as we consider ourselves mauled and aligned by your "fresh" approach. Do not reply to this email. Do not step on this email. Do not act "hip" to be square, korean night shop-cool, now-I'm-hungry on this email. Our legal team. I repeat: our legal team. Nightingales will sing. They will praise the mild whiff of starch in the summer air. There will be no mercy. Death will come as a hot nurse, screaming in the night, clawing at your neck-hairs.

Donald P. Masterson holds book signing

A book signing was held Tuesday in the Lyon Building Rotunda by Donald P. Masterson (seen here wearing the "LimeKrakhin spotter-hat"), for his new book, "To Spot a LimeKrakhin." A reception was held in conjunction with the book signing.

Mendehlsson and Pardner published the book last fall.

A HOT WRITER

Editor Hillary Maughan recently spoke with Donald P. Masterson by telephone as he was completing his first US book tour (and first-ever visit to the States) in late March. During their conversation he spoke fondly of the hometown that inspires him, and the pleasure he takes in writing for hot adults. Find out more about his two novels, OH TITS and more recently TO SPOT A LIMEKRAHKIN, in this telling interview.

HM: When did you first realize your calling as a writer???

Donald P. Masterson: When I was very young, around 6 or 7, I remember thinking that I wanted to be a writer. I was always scribbling little stories in pencil. The desire to write stayed with me all through university, where I did bits and pieces of things. But it wasn't until I hit my late 20s that I realized I had to get serious about it and actually finish something. Becoming a writer was the culmination of my ambition and lots of dreams.??

HM: You've successfully published (and won awards for) short stories written for hot adults. What compelled you to write books aimed at a hotter audience?

Donald P. Masterson: It was kind of a natural process. I had written a series of stories about my own hotness and the hot town where I grew up, all from a hot person's viewpoint. I adopted the mindset of a hot woman, revisiting all the vividness of those places and experiences. Not long after that, OH TITS came to me as it had been waiting there to come out.??

I also knew I wanted to write for a readership whose minds are still fluid and flexible, readers who are able to easily mix reality and imagination, lust and deviousness. I had written a cold adult novel that was rejected by everyone. But when I finished it, OH TITS was taken by the first publisher I sent it to; it was very exciting.?I mean, it was sexually exciting. I got a hard-on. You know what a hard-on is?

HM: How has your life changed since gaining acclaim as an author???
Donald P. Masterson: Life is much busier now. Until 18 months ago, I was a part-time teacher. Now I'm a full-time writer. All the calls and invitations I get now to do talks at schools and bookstores can be very demanding. They decend into wild nights of drinking and hotness. Ha ha. I have to be careful to take time to write.??

But being an author has also brought things like my recent tour of the United States, so many positive things. When OH TITS came out, it was wonderful to see how it traveled to the US I mean, both OH TITS and TO SPOT A LIMEKRAHKIN are both local stories, but American readers could relate to them. Many adults believe American readers won't be able to deal with more complex themes, but they can, if they're hot.

HM: Are you conscious of the hotness of your audience when you write???

Donald P. Masterson: When I'm writing, my main responsibility is to the story. In my head I'm thinking 'yes, this is a book for hot audience.' But that also gives me the freedom to write about all sorts of things: a story that moves quickly and fluently and has complex imagery, things that are stranger than everyday life. As I write from the point of view of hotness, looking through those hot eyes dictates what I write about.??

HM: How do get hot? Any hobbies you enjoy???

Donald P. Masterson: I like to walk, in a place about 50 miles from our home --- it's fell country, moor country. We also like the North coastline and beaches very much. I like listening to music and spending time with my girlfriends.

HM: What are you working on now???
Donald P. Masterson: I'm working on a new novel tentatively titled WET SHOULDER. It will be published in England in March 2008. That same month, my novel SCOOT OVER, BITCH, which was just released in Britain (January 2007), should come out in the US from Random House. It's about a group of hot young people living in a group home and how they are dealing with the issues of not having rules in their lives.
